All about the “Green Route” to the Hotel Der Bär

Climate-friendly travel is a major concern of the Wilder Kaiser Tourism Region. And we are very happy if you decide in favour of it. Best Routes for Arrival by Car

From Germany

Take the A12 from Munich, heading to Kufstein – take the St. Johann/Lofer exit and proceed to Ellmau – in Ellmau take the first entrance to the town and follow the road to the council offices. At the council offices cross the junction and follow the steep road up the mountain – after some 300 metres you will see the hotel Der Bär on the left.

By car from Switzerland

From Switzerland to Feldkirch and continuing to Tyrol (either via the Arlberg pass or through the Arlberg tunnel) – follow the A12 Inntalautobahn to Innsbruck and continue to Munich – take the 'Wörgl Ost' exit heading for St. Johann – in Ellmau take the first entrance to the town and follow the road to the council offices. At the council offices cross the junction and follow the steep road up the mountain – after some 300 metres you will see the hotel Der Bär on the left.

By car from Italy

Via the Brenner Pass to Innsbruck on the A12, continuing to Munich – take the 'Wörgl Ost' east exit heading for St. Johann – in Ellmau take the first entrance to the town and follow the road to the council offices. At the council offices cross the junction and follow the steep road up the mountain – after some 300 metres you will see the hotel Der Bär on the left.

By car from East Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary

Drive via the ber die A1 motorway to Salzburg – continue to Bad Reichenhall, Lofer, Waidring St. Johann and from there to Wörgl – in Ellmau take the first entrance to the town and follow the road to the council offices. At the council offices cross the junction and follow the steep road up the mountain – after some 300 metres you will see the hotel Der Bär on the left.

Toll stickers – so-called vignettes – are compulsory on all motorways in Austria. You can obtain the vignette at almost all petrol stations and motorway service stations near the border.

Please note: If you are travelling from Germany via the Inntal motorway A93 to Kufstein and take the Kufstein-Nord or Kufstein-Süd exit on the A12, you can travel to the Wilder Kaiser region toll-free.
